POWER Celebration

Every student at MMS has an opportunity to earn a celebration on Friday, November 13th. One of our leadership committees is committed to recognizing students for making great choices at MMS! Starting today, students with no referrals, no tardies, and 90% attendance will get to participate in a special celebration!

Please encourage your child to work for the win!!

POWER is our acronym for Perseverance, Ownership, Wisdom, Enthusiasm, and Respect. Our hope is to encourage and recognize this POWER in each of our students while they are here at Morgan.

Attendance Matters!!!

📈 DID YOU KNOW? — Attendance and Achievement Are Connected
Research involving middle and high school students found that missing just 10 class periods was associated with lower grades and lower math and English test scores. By 6th grade, missing 10% or more of school is one of three signs that a student may drop out of high school.
The long-term connection is also important. One study found that students who were chronically absent during the middle grades were, on average, about two months behind in 8th-grade math achievement and were 18 percentage points less likely to graduate high school on time.
Washington sees the same overall pattern: students who attend regularly are more likely to have higher GPAs, perform better on state assessments, and graduate on time.
🎯 Our goal: Fewer than 10 missed days.
🏆 90%+ attendance = eligible for schoolwide celebrations.
Attendance doesn't guarantee achievement—but it creates more opportunities for it.
