MMS Dance 2026

I am so excited to continue into my second decade at Morgan Middle School.

I have been teaching dance for approximately 14 years and am a competitive dance and All-Star Cheer coach. I am also certified to teach acrobatics and stunting. I absolutely love dance and believe it is an amazing opportunity for students to grow both socially and athletically. I am looking forward to another great season and continuing our tradition of excellence both on and off the floor!

Performance Opportunities
This season, dancers can expect to perform at:
● Two or three basketball games during 7th and 8th grade halftime performances
● The winter assembly
● A league jamboree, where dance teams come together to perform and showcase the
skills they have learned
Practice Schedule
● Monday: After school–4:00 PM
● Tuesday: After school–4:00 PM
● Wednesday: After school–2:30 PM
● Thursday: After school–4:00 PM
● Friday: After school–4:00 PM

Please have your dancer bring a water bottle, athletic clothes, tennis shoes, and a snack
every day.

Please also be prompt when picking up your dancer. I have another job after practice and need to leave on time.

Team Expectations
Dance is a fast-paced program, and we will be learning new material almost every day. Dancersare expected to:

● Arrive ready to work with a positive attitude
● Give maximum effort every day
● Practice and review choreography at home
● Support and encourage their teammates
● Maintain good academic standing
● Be dependable and committed to the team

Team captains will be selected based on dedication, academics, and the ability to support and show up for their teammates.

Academic standing is especially important. If a dancer is not maintaining good grades, they may not be able to perform, which can affect the entire team.

Attendance, Safety and Communication
I understand that students have appointments and other commitments, and I try to be flexible
when possible. However, I ask that dance be treated as a priority whenever scheduling allows.

No jewelry whatsoever; no exceptions for practice and performance. If it is religious, it will need to be removed and taped to a covered portion of the body. If they ask if they can wear the jewelry because (insert any reason here), the answer is NO!

Wednesday attendance is especially important. Wednesday will be our primary stunt day, so missing Wednesday practice can be detrimental to a dancer's progress and to the
team as a whole. If possible, please schedule appointments on days other than Wednesday or after practice. Because we are learning new material and stunts throughout the season, consistent attendance is extremely important. When a dancer misses practice, they are responsible for learning the material they missed and coming prepared to participate at the next practice.

Please let me know if your dancer is sick, especially because we participate in stunting. Safety is always our priority, and I need to know if a dancer should be removed from stunts or modified activities.

Please text me directly with any questions or concerns at 509-607-1723.

Please have parents communicate with me rather than having dancers text me.

Team Culture & Social Media
We are all at different skill levels, and our goal is to come together as one team where everyone can learn, participate, and grow. Bullying will not be tolerated.

We may use videos to help dancers learn choreography and practice with teammates. However, photos or videos taken at dance or during practice may not be posted or shared on social media or any other public platform.

Team Events & Parent Support
Team captain parents will help coordinate food for events and goodie bags with the other
parents. This year, there are also a few items on the supply list that may be different from previous years. Most should be items students already have or can easily borrow. We will purchase a team bow together. I will discuss the options with the dancers and allow
them to choose the color and design for the season.

And, of course, Halloween is always a popular question! Since Halloween falls on a Saturday
this year, dancers may wear costumes to practice on the day of downtown trick-or-treating.

Thank you for supporting your dancer and our team. I am so excited to see the dedication,
growth, and teamwork this group brings to the 2026 season!
