SCHOOL SECURITY OFFICER
Ellensburg School District

The purpose of a School Security Officer (SSO) is to promote and enhance the Safe & Secure learning environment in our schools for students, staff and visitors. The SSO is an Ellensburg School District employee who is trained in both educating students and also has a law enforcement commission. Mr. Botten is our School Security Officer and is a reserve police officer with the Ellensburg Police Department.

The SSO will work primarily at Morgan Middle School but will also visit our three elementary schools. The SSO will work collaboratively with the Morgan student-support team, but will not be involved in school discipline. The primary role is to foster positive relationships with all students, provide a security presence on campus and delivery of classroom presentations to students on safety-related topics.
